Top 5 Reasons 4th of July is the Best!

4:38 PM

Well, it's official. Now that 4th of July has passed we have experienced all the holidays of the year as moms. It sounds like a weird thing to even think about but it was shocking how different every holiday was with a little one.

Christmas changes from being excited about what you got to being excited to tear open presents for your 4 month old to marvel at.

Halloween goes from getting dressed up in a semi-slutty outfit and drinking goblin punch or some disgusting concoction in a garage while playing beer pong to dressing your kid up as a hot dog and making your husband put on a mustard suit so you can take your sleeping newborn picnic family trick or treating...(that was kind of a ridiculous idea)

30th Birthdays become family days instead of drunken weekend getaways.

After yesterday, we decided that the 4th of July is by far the best holiday to celebrate with kids! Here's our top 5 reasons why.

Parties are all kid friendly
Even though it's a drinking holiday, it's mostly celebrated during the day. So most parties are kid friendly. No need to search for a sitter just so you can be all patriotic with your red cup and American flag bicycle tassles.

It ends early!
Like mentioned above, this holiday is mostly a day time holiday. After 8:00 fireworks it's kinda over, and kinda bed time, and kinda glorious to be asleep before 9!

You spend the whole day outside
There is no better way to wear your kid out then by letting them run around, swim, and soak up the sun. If you have a kid who doesn't typically sleep through the night (uh hem Smith and Junie) then the 4th of July might just be your lucky night.

It's a holiday spent with friends!
Don't get me wrong, I love spending time with family, but there's not a lot of young kids or babies in the family so it's such a relief to have an excuse to spend the day with people my own age who have kids the same size as mine! Also, Uncle Eddie...😐

and the #1 reason the 4th of July is just the best...

Hotdogs, hamburgers, red, white and blue Jell-O shots.
